As the Chief Innovation Program Officer at ed.X, I was tasked with designing and instituting innovative ideas based on the Portrait of a Nevada Learner, Nevada State Academic Standards, and local curriculum. This involved curricular design, classroom collaboration with teachers, designing and implementation of professional development, and piloting of innovative instructional models for educators K-12.
Goldfarb Video Game Pilot
In collaboration with Goldfarb Elementary School (Clark County School District, NV), I designed and implemented a video game development pilot which demonstrated the Portrait of a Nevada Learner.
Learners used inspiration from their ELA curriculum to write original stories with original characters. Using hand made sketches and generative AI tools, learners designed characters and settings for their stories. These characters and settings were then animated into video games using Bloxels and presented to school and community members during an Arcade Day. Click here to view the games.
Summer Venture Laboratory
In collaboration with Mack Middle School (Clark County School District, NV), I designed and implemented a summer learning series with the goal of modeling adult/youth co-creation and the Portrait of a Nevada Learner.
Educators and Learners collaborated to design solutions for the Springs Preserve (Year 1) and the Atomic Testing Museum, Las Vegas Park and Rec, and Area 15 (Year 2). Solutions were developed and presented to community partners.
